Year 1 Great Fire of London WOW Day

We were so impressed with how much the children have learned since we started this topic!

Year 1 had a wonderfully educational day learning all about the Great Fire of London. They spent the morning looking at the 'shops' in old London town where they were able to make handkerchiefs hand-sewn with their initials or how to make ink so that they could use a quill to write. They also had the opportunity to learn how to weave and to make a candle by dipping a wick in hot wax over and over again. The children loved all the activities and were so excited to take their creations home to their grown-ups.

We were so impressed with how much the children have learned since we started this topic, and by their behaviour on a very hot and tiring day. We must thank our wonderful parent volunteers and the staff members who helped us to ensure it ran so smoothly - we couldn't have done it without you!

Please browse our Great Fire of London Photo Gallery to see how much the children did on such a busy day.
