Year 3 Holdenby House Trip

Experiencing a day as an evacuee

On Tuesday Year 3 had a fantastic trip to Holdenby House.

The children were evacuated from Ampthill by coach and greeted by Mrs North and Stella who immersed them into the experience of a 'Day in The Life of an Evacuee'.

The children began the day by preparing food for the wounded soldiers, making pompoms and rag rugs. They were then taken down into an air raid shelter where they practiced an air raid drill, put on their gas masks and practiced first aid on the soldiers.

This brought a close to our fascinating World War 2 topic, and we all had a brilliant time.

Thank you to the parents helpers who made the trip possible.
