World Book Day 2025
The children really enjoyed celebrating WBD 2025
As usual the children really enjoyed celebrating World Book Day
In Year 1 the children had a lovely time exploring The Hungry Caterpillar. They took part in a range of
engaging activities including, making their own fruit salad kebabs, butterfly symmetry printing, making
paper caterpillars and retelling the story in their own words.
Year 2 loved dressing up for World Book Day, and there was much excitement in the classroom all day. In the morning we wrote a book review to send off to the Blue Peter team in order to try to earn a badge and in the afternoon we made book marks and drew an alternative front cover for our favourite books. We also listened to stories throughout the day!
Year 3 embraced the possibilities of play from our favourite books.

- What could be played from the world?
They created character top trumps from their favourite books, created their own word searches considering the themes and nouns in favourite stories and engaged in BBCs live lesson before getting to create their own mini books!
In Year 4, the children were inspired by Sue Scullard's book; The Great Round the World Balloon Race.
We discussed a range of words the author used, grouping them into movement and WOW words. The children then wrote about their balloon race discussing the continents they flew other and the different sights they may have seen. After this the children then created their own hot air balloon designs, painting them using watercolours. They made 3D cuboid baskets, where they then put their writing about their adventure. Throughout the day children from both classes worked together to create a hot air balloon in a collage style.
They used a range of coloured tissue paper to create a wonderful design. This then was displayed in the
Year 4 corridor along with some children's work.
