Year 3 trip to Holdenby House

Looking at the lives of WWII Evacuees

Year 3 Hazel Class
Year 3 Elm Class

Year 3 had a lovely day out on Monday 1st July when they visited Holdenby House which enhanced their learning about World War 2.

The children participated in an ‘evacuee day’ and during their visit, they were taught about food rationing, ‘make do and mend’ and air raid shelters by different WWII characters.

What did the children think of their Evacuee Day?

"I liked making the pom poms and I liked sorting the buttons, because it was a bit different." GB
"I enjoyed cooking and cutting vegetables because normally children don't get to cook that often at home." FL

Further pictures from this day can be found in our Photo Gallery, please take a few minutes to have a browse.

"I liked going down the underground shelter because I learnt that careless talk costs lives!" FMc
