Year 3 Travel Back in Time

for an Ancient Egypt WOW Day

On Monday, Year 3 pupils enjoyed an exciting and immersive Ancient Egypt WOW Day, led by History Off the Page. The classroom was transformed into a bustling Egyptian workshop as the children stepped back in time to experience life as it might have been thousands of years ago.

The day began with a variety of hands-on activities, where pupils created canopic jars, wrapped model mummies, painted their names using hieroglyphs, and even blended their own scented perfumes. These creative workshops gave children the chance to explore key aspects of Ancient Egyptian daily life, beliefs, and culture.

In the afternoon, the learning continued with a grand royal feast! Some pupils were selected to become members of the royal family or honoured guests, while others took on the roles of performers. Everyone enjoyed storytelling and dramatic performances, including The River Nile Ball, The Wax Crocodile, The Story of Cyrus, and The Visit of the Apis Bull — all inspired by real Ancient Egyptian tales and traditions.

It was a fantastic day full of curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm. The children approached every activity with great excitement and focus, and we were incredibly proud of their engagement and behaviour throughout the day.

This immersive experience not only brought our history curriculum to life, but also sparked a real sense of wonder and interest in the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt.
