Australia Day Cake Sale

in aid of the World Wildlife Fund, Bushfire Appeal

After watching Newsround one evening, one of our Year 2 children came into school a little upset. She explained to her teacher and class that she had learnt about the terrible Bushfires that have been sweeping across Australia, and the devastating impact this has had on the wildlife.

As a class, the children wanted to do something to help and decided to hold a cake sale,  the proceeds of which would help support the animals that have survived.

As a result of the compassion and concern shown by one pupil, The Firs, as a whole, was galvanised into hosting our Australia Day cake sale on Monday 27th January. Your generous donations enabled us to hold a second cake sale on the next day.

We would like to thank all the pupils, parents and grandparents for baking, donating and purchasing cakes.

Altogether we have raised an astonishing £520, which will be sent off to The World Wildlife Fund.
