Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Bunting making, tree planting, a street party with music and PTFA cake sale!

Today the children have had an amazing day celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.  They all looked wonderful in their red, white and blue clothes and really enjoyed all the celebrations throughout the day.

All the children had their lunch outside on the KS2 playground where tables and chairs were set out around it.  The lunch staff and teachers served the children as they sat at the table to be waited on.  The kitchen staff produced a lovely meal and the jubilee sponge went down a treat. The playground looked lovely with all the bunting that the children had coloured in class which was tied around the fencing.

We were so fortunate to have the Ampthill Town Band come and play to us throughout lunch. They played a Jubilee ensemble which included the National Anthem and a Disney number.

Please watch the Ampthill Town Band playing at The Firs.

The Jubilee Canopy

The School Council children, along with Martin Lees, our Premises Manager planted a tree at the front of the school in honour of the Platinum Jubilee.  It was the Queen’s wish to plant a ‘Royal Canopy’ of trees across the country for the occasion.

Thank you for all your donations this morning to help towards the cost of our tree.

Cake Sale

The PTFA had a cake sale after school with the many cakes that were donated by parents and carers.  The School Council and the Y4 Ambassadors helped to run the cake stall, and they did a great job.

Thank you to everyone who sent in cakes and to our School Council and Ambassadors for all their help on the stall.

We will let you know in our next newsletter how much we raised.

Please browse our Jubilee Photo Gallery to see how much the children of The Firs enjoyed the jubilee Celebrations.
