Supporting Parents and Pupils

The partnership between home and school is vital in ensuring that all pupils are happy and make progress at The Firs.

We have an open-door policy for all our families and members of The Firs community. We value the importance of communicating effectively with parents, and finding the best ways to support our children on their learning journey.

We hold regular events, including coffee mornings, workshops, parent forums and social events to engage with, support and share information.

Parent Feedback from a recent workshop

‘Talking to professionals for support and signposting was beneficial, but also getting to meet other parents who are facing similar situations. The space felt safe and it's great the school are providing these resources for parents.’

‘It was nice to know that we are not alone.’

There is a wide range of additional support available for all pupils within the school. During a child's time in school they may at some point require a little extra support for a period of time. This additional support can take a variety of forms from taking part in a booster group, advice and links to other agencies to more specific individual and special educational needs.

In organising our provision for any pupils requiring additional support, we follow the Central Bedfordshire Guidelines.  If you have any specific concerns regarding your child please contact the class teacher.  Alternatively Ms Gamble (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator) is available in school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday.
